The 2018 Yorkshire and Humber Regional Labour Conference was a super event with excellent speakers from across our movement.
It was a great day spent with friends and comrades old and new at the Labour Regional Conference in the beautiful world heritage site of Saltaire. It was invigorating to be around so many like minded folk from across the Labour and Trade Union movement, all united around the socialist cause. Particular stand out moments included an engaging explanation of the Labour transport policy from Rachael Maskell MP and some hard hitting comments for Emma Hardy MP, whose passion really shone through. I was able to raise the issue of supporting responsible small and medium sized businesses, as an important way to win votes at the next general election. The comment went down well and received broad support from the panel and conference crowd. However the highlight had to be a rousing and inspiring closing speech from Shadow Justice Secretary Richard Burgon MP, attacking free market fundamentalism and emphasising the urgent need for a transformative socialist Labour government.
